FAQ
How long do Wit+Whiff candles burn?
The 11 oz burns approximately 55 hours and the 3 oz travel size approximately 20 hours, assuming you follow the four-hour rule below. Burn them harder than that and you'll get less.
How big are they?
The 11 oz jar is 4.25" tall and 3.375" in diameter. The 3 oz travel jar is 2.5" tall and 2.5" in diameter — small enough for a desk drawer or a suitcase.
What kind of wax do you use?
A coconut soy blend, hand-poured in small batches. We use it because it burns cleaner and throws scent noticeably harder than the mass-produced blends you find on an endcap. It also costs us more, which is the tradeoff we decided to make.
Are your candles actually strong, or is that just marketing?
Actually strong. The coconut soy blend and the fragrance load are both doing real work — an 11 oz will fill a normal-sized room, and the Throne Collection was built specifically for situations where subtlety would be a failure.
What's the difference between the 11 oz and the 3 oz travel size?
Same wax, same fragrance, same pour. The 3 oz is smaller, cheaper, and fits on a desk or in a suitcase without starting a conversation. It's also the easier gift when you don't know someone well enough to spend $30 on them.
How do I get the most out of my candle?
Three things. Let the first burn go 2–3 hours so the wax pool reaches the edge of the jar. Trim the wick to 1/4" before every single light. Never burn more than 4 hours at a stretch. That's most of it — there's a longer version in our guide to making a candle last longer.
Why does my candle have a dip in the middle?
That's tunneling, and it happens when the first burn was cut short. Wax has a memory — if the pool doesn't reach the edge of the jar on that first light, it will never reach the edge again, and you lose the outer ring of wax for good.
Fix it by burning the candle 3–4 hours straight so the pool spreads all the way out. If it's already badly tunneled, cover the top with foil for the last hour of a burn to trap heat and even it back out.
Can I give one of these as a gift to someone I work with?
Depends entirely on the coworker, and we're not going to pretend to know your office. The Cubicle Collection is built for exactly this and stays on the right side of HR. The Climax Collection is not, and we'd gently suggest you already knew that. If you're unsure, a 3 oz travel size in a Cubicle scent is the safe play — small, funny, and deniable.
Are these safe around pets?
Burn them in a ventilated room, keep the flame well out of reach, and never leave a lit candle unattended around an animal. If your pet has a respiratory condition, check with your vet before burning any scented candle — ours included.
Do you do bulk or custom orders?
Yes. We keep enough on hand that a favor-sized run — eight to twelve travel sizes for a bachelorette, a shower, or an office exchange — can just be ordered directly like any other order.
